251205 KPOP B!TCH
throughout her 8yr+ soloist career, navigating through contemporary/alternative r&b releases like BAPPI and Muah, The Deep has finally found her footing. even though she has always had her own branded creative vision, it shines through in her debut album KPOP B!TCH.
with a roster of notable producers like kimj, weissen, frost children and dorian electra, the singer-songwriter maximises her full potential. “[But] K-pop is very polished, it’s perfectionism in a way, and I’m very DIY. I design a lot of my stuff, come up with all of my creative directions, do a lot of mixing, and edit and shoot my videos. Honestly, the word ‘bitch’ fits my personality so well, so I decided to call it KPOP B!TCH to make it easier for people to understand my character.” says The Deep, via a DAZED interview.

opener BEEP BEEP begins with an electro-pop infused bang, delivering a bouncy, unrelenting beat to rock your face off. producer Weissen also worked on track 8 Birthday, which was released 4 months prior to KPOP B!TCH as a celebration for Deep's birthday. Birthday feels like a postlude to Make Up, her 2025 single. Both share the similarity of a light, glittery production, akin to the soft sparkling of champagne. Deep's saccharine chirp of 'I love you' delivers as a message to self.

the crunchy synths in I Hate Silence channel the 2000s energy of KPOP B!TCH. a youtube commenter claims the beat drop towards the end of the song reminds them of 100 gecs. i could care less about 100 gecs so i cant claim that's true. anyhow, the swag from the music video literally oozes out and over into your brain. though the production pre-chorus is a bit questionable, deeps vocals save the track from sounding like it's being deep fried.

SOLO is about deep's pioneering steps in her soloist career, working alone and without a label.

I work it out all by myself
No, I don't need nobody else
I'm in control, I cast the spell

this song exudes confidence in oneself, assurance, and cuntiness. that means independent of others judgement, knowing what you want and being your own fan, as there is nothing more valuable than self love and self confidence. on a technical level, SOLO takes late-2000s Britney and rolls with it, which works perfectly.
TRACK 6 - Wrong Number
some beat switches are bizarre and almost experimental - glithcy chorus mixing is great, each song stands out
deeps artistic vision shines not only through her neon styling and 2000s imagery, but also her songs and writing. each track of her bursts with confidence. first listening to the album, i was reminded of late 00s/ early 10s artists like 3OH!3, Millionaires and Imogen Heap immediately. do you know what i think? i think dj pon-3 / vinyl scratch from mlp would absolutely love this album.
